Magnetic Mounts — Starlink Gen.2 (Curved Surfaces)

Four 90 mm magnets on custom stainless steel joints. The joints adapt to a bonnet that curves, and they hold the Gen.2 antenna stand on the road, not only when parked.

Made in SwitzerlandStarlink Gen.2 stand4 × 56 kg magnets90 mm diameterCurved and non-flat panels

A magnet is flat. Your bonnet is not.

Most panels worth mounting on are curved. A flat magnet on a curved panel loses contact and loses force. These mounts carry each magnet on a custom stainless steel joint, so the magnet finds the surface instead of fighting it. That is what lets you put a Gen.2 antenna on the hood or bonnet of your vehicle.

What it holds, and what it does not

These supports hold the stand of your Gen.2 Starlink antenna while you are on the road. They do not hold the antenna itself in movement, because the stand is not telescopic.

Tactic Engineering designed the first magnetic mounts for camper vans.

December 2021. Every part is designed, produced and hand-assembled in Switzerland. Here is how these mounts compare to what else you can buy.

Option

Drilled bracket

Decades-old generic hardware, often made in Asia. Typically one year of warranty, and the holes stay.

Option

Magnetic look-alike

A recent copy of our design, often made in Asia. Pull force usually unspecified, warranty variable.

These mounts

Tactic magnet

Our design, December 2021. Four magnets, 56 kg pull each, tested. Thousands of vans worldwide since.

The joint

Custom stainless steel

Ours, made for this mount. It is the part that adapts the magnet to a non-flat surface.

Fitment

This set is built around the Gen.2 antenna stand and around panels that are not flat. The Gen.3 antenna and the Starlink Mini are different shapes and take different mounts.

Fits

Starlink Gen.2 antenna stand Curved hood or bonnet Flat roofs and panels Holds the stand while driving

Does not fit

The antenna itself in movement — the stand is not telescopic Starlink Gen.3 — different mount Starlink Mini — different mount Aluminium bodies — Land Rover, new Ford Bronco
Have a different dish, or a flat roof and a parked van?

What you get

In the box

Four rubberised magnets

56 kg of force each, 90 mm across, each one on its own custom stainless steel joint.

Pins

Carbon-fibre reinforced

The plastic part of the pins is 3D printed in carbon-fibre reinforced composite, the most costly material we buy. It is printed at 270°C and resists heat and impact.

Size

95 mm tall, 260 g

Small enough to leave on the panel, light enough to carry four in a door pocket.

How these are made

Our products are made with 3D printing and the highest quality materials available to us. That method leaves traces: you may see very thin layers or slight waviness in the plastic. Our composite is printed at 270°C, so this is far less visible than on most 3D prints on the market. Items with noticeable defects are separated out and never shipped. These are not injection-moulded parts, and they do not look like injection-moulded parts.

Other boards or antennas?

If you want the same system for other boards, we design it at no extra charge. The only possible cost is added shipping, since a new product like this can take some trial and error to find the perfect fit.
